Books by Mail Service - Homebound Delivery

The Library's Books by Mail service provides books and other materials (Evergreen Park items only) to homebound people of all ages who live in the village. The service is only for individuals who are unable to leave home because of a temporary or permanent disability. Call 708.422.8522 to register for the Books by Mail service. Participants can request specific materials by telephone or online through the SWAN catalog.

How does it work?

    • A maximum of six items per bag are mailed in a reusable shipping bag.
    • The check-out period for each item is three  weeks. The items can be renewed by phone if no one is waiting.
    • Items will be delivered to your home and returned in the same bag.

The Books by Mail Homebound Delivery Service is funded through the Evergreen Park Public Library Foundation.

Merlin Magnifier

The Lions Club of Evergreen Park, through the John and Marilyn Brazzale Memorial Fund, partnered with the Evergreen Park Public Library Foundation to present the Library with a Merlin HD Magnifier with 22” LCD monitor. This special low-vision machine brings high-resolution color and contrast to give patrons with visual impairment vastly improved ability to read and write. The Merlin Magnifier is located in the Computer Lab.

Mini-Bus

The Office of Citizens' Services mini-bus provides service to Evergreen Park senior citizens and disabled adults. Click here for more information.

Pathlights

Pathlights is a social service agency that provides resources, advocacy, programs, and services to adults 60 years of age and over, adults with disabilities, their caregivers, families, and friends in Palos, Lemont, Orland, and Worth townships. Illinois State Library Talking Book and Braille Service (TBBS)

TBBS serves any Illinois resident who is unable to read standard print material due to a permanent or temporary visual or physical disability, providing a full range of library services and specializing in braille and audio books. Illinois residents may contact TBBS toll free at 800.426.0709.
