Bob Erlich released 1,700 monarchs and 1,300 black swallowtails into the environment last year, many nurtured from eggs and "cats" found in the Evergreen Park Library Butterfly Garden. Bob has tended to the garden for over a decade, planting native plants--like zinnias, daisies, tropical milkweed, and lantana to attract butterflies and provide the fuel they need on their migration to Mexico every fall.
Daily Southtown reporter Donna Vickroy profiled Bob Erlich in a beautifully written article for the August 2nd edition. Read about this extraordinary man and local hero here. You can meet Bob in person and talk about all things gardening at our 75th Anniversary Fun Fest on Saturday, September 7, from 10 am to noon.
