information: public
access computers

Public Access Computers
The library's computers are designated
for specific purposes to provide efficient and equitable service
for users. Librarians may deny use of the computer to anyone using
it for purposes other than those designated by the library. Library
staff may offer basic assistance to users as time permits, but cannot
offer personal instruction in the use of computer software. Users
should possess adequate training for proper use of computer equipment.
Use of the computers is on a first-come, first-served basis, no
reservations. Only two users may sit at a workstation at one time. A parent is welcome
to sit with his child while using the Internet. An adult must accompany
children under age 6.

User Fees
There is a charge of $1.00 per 30 minutes
or fraction thereof for using the Internet or Word Processing Computers.
The fee is waived for Evergreen Park residents with a valid Evergreen
Park Public Library card in good standing. Computer time
is paid in advance. A session can be extended if no one is waiting
to use the computer.

Public Internet Access
Users access the Internet without
filters and are subject to policy outlined in the Evergreen Park
Public Library Internet Use Procedures. The Computer Use policy
must be accepted after logging into the library's computer. The signature of a parent or legal guardian
is needed for users under age 18. The Internet access computers
can be used for 30 minutes at a time, on a walk-up basis. The session
can be extended if the half hour is up and no one is waiting to
use the computer.

Reference Computers
Reference computers provide online databases or web sites that have been selected by
library staff to provide reference information. Reference computers
do not provide open Internet access. The stations are available
on a walk up basis. Access is limited to 30 minutes when others
are waiting.

Word Processing Computers
The word processing computers can be
used for one hour at a time, on a first-come, first-served basis.
The session can be extended if the hour is up and no one is waiting
to use the computer.

Printing
Printing may only be done on library-supplied
paper. Black and white printing costs 10 cents per page. Color printing
costs $1.00 per page. Users may download data
to a floppy disk, CD, or USB drive. The library is not responsible for losses resulting
from the use of library equipment. Users are responsible for all
pages they print and must pay for all pages printed, whether intentional
or not, and whether its appearance is desirable or not.
