CRIS Radio Services
The Evergreen Park Public Library offers
Chicagoland Radio Information Service (CRIS) for people with visual
impairments and special needs. CRIS is a free radio service. Newspaper
articles from the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun 12 PM - 4 PM (Sept - May)-Times, suburban papers
like the Evergreen Park Courier, and stories from national magazines
are read by volunteers. CRIS transmits on a sub-frequency so a special
radio is needed to hear it. The radio receivers are free of charge
to those who qualify. Application forms are available at the library,
and two of the radio receivers, along with a CRIS program guide,
can be checked out with a valid Evergreen Park library card.
