for public use

Computers for Public Use
The computer workstations at Evergreen
Park Public Library are designated for specific purposes to provide
efficient and equitable service for all.
- Online Catalogs
The online catalogs show not only the collection of the Evergreen
Park Public Library, but materials from 76 libraries in the south
and west suburbs belonging to the Suburban Library System. You
can reserve library materials directly from the computer, view
your library record, and renew items online. Printing is not available
from the online catalogs.
- Reference Computers
Reference computers provide access to online databases or web
sites that have been selected by library staff to provide reference
information. Reference computers do not provide open Internet
access. The stations are available on a walk-up basis.
- Word Processing
Computers
The word processing computers offer Microsoft Office applications:
Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. The computers can be used for one
hour at a time, on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Internet Access
Computers
Users access the Internet through unfiltered terminals and are
subject to policy outlined in the Evergreen Park Public Library
Internet Use Procedures. The Internet access computers can be
used for 30 minutes at a time, on a walkup basis. A current Evergreen
Park Public Library card in good standing, or a valid photo ID
(Driver's License, State ID, Student ID, Passport, Military ID)
is required. A one time Internet registration form must be completed,
and the signature of a parent or legal guardian is needed for
users under age 18.
- User fees
There is a charge of $1.00 per 30 minutes or fraction thereof
for using the Internet or word processing computers. The fee is
waived for Evergreen Park residents with a valid Evergreen Park
Public Library card in good standing. Users may choose to limit
their search time to 15 minutes or less per day, in which case
there is no fee.
- Printing
Printing may only be done on library supplied paper. Black and
white printing costs 10 cents per page. Color printing (upon request)
costs 20 cents per page. Users may download data to a floppy disk,
wither brought from home or purchased from the library at a nominal
charge.
